The club of councilors of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in the Assembly of the Municipality of Pljevlja, are asking for an extraordinary session of the local parliament to discuss the problems faced by the Sports Center "Ada" and to adopt conclusions that would create the conditions to solve this burning problem.
Sports hall Ada in Pljevlja suspended the provision of its services to users yesterday, due to the lack of conditions for work caused by the accumulated financial and other problems they face in their work.
The municipality and the Government of Montenegro have been given a deadline to resolve the situation in the hall by November 15, when if they fail to do so, they will radicalize their protest.
"'Based on Article 53 of the Rules of Procedure of the Municipal Assembly of Pljevlja, we invite you to schedule a meeting of the Collegium of the President of the Assembly as soon as possible to discuss the problems faced by SC Ada' and arrange for an extraordinary session of the Assembly of the Municipality of Pljevlja to adopt the Conclusions which would create the conditions to solve this burning problem in Pijevlje", it is stated in the Request sent by the Club of DPS Councilors to the President of the Municipal Assembly, Jovana Tošić.
They reminded that their Committee Club has been initiating discussions on this topic for a long time both at the sessions of the Collegium of the President of the Assembly and at the sessions of the Assembly of the Municipality of Pljevlja.
"Until now, you have unjustifiably ignored our requests, we hope that this time, without delay, you will convene the Collegium and after that an extraordinary session of the assembly because we have no more time to waste," the Request states.
The municipality of Pljevlja is the owner of 12,89 percent of the sports hall in Pljevlja, the Government of Montenegro - Ministry of Finance 57,88 percent, the Directorate of Public Works 25,96 percent and others who participated as donors in its construction 3,27 percent.
The municipality announced today that they are ready to settle their part of the financial obligations in the Ada Sports Hall in the amount of 12 percent, as much as its ownership share in the sports building, in order to ensure its stable and smooth functioning of the hall, but they believe that the state also he should do, given that he is the majority owner of the hall.
"The municipality of Pljevlja expresses serious concern about the current state of the Ada sports hall, a key facility for sports and recreation of the citizens of our municipality. The maintenance of this facility and its further improvement are of crucial importance for the quality of life of all our fellow citizens, especially young people, athletes and recreationists. Aware of the importance of the Ada Hall, the Municipality of Pljevlja is ready to settle its part of the financial obligations, 12 percent of which is normally the owner's, in order to ensure the stable and smooth functioning of the hall. However, we believe that it is the obligation of the Government of Montenegro to recognize the importance of this unique facility - the only sports hall in the country under the majority ownership of the Government, and settle its obligations so that the hall continues to function smoothly", the local administration in Pljevlja announced.
They believe that only the joint efforts of the Government and the Municipality can ensure the preservation and development of the Ada Hall, in the interest of all citizens of Pljevlja and future generations.
"It is particularly important that the Ada hall is the only sports hall in Montenegro that is majority owned by the government, 87 percent, and we believe that it is the state's obligation to treat the only sports facility of its kind in our municipality more responsibly. It is not realistic that the Municipality of Pljevlja, in addition to all the problems it is facing, repays the entire debt because part of the debt of 87 percent is actually the debt of the Government. We sincerely hope that at the already scheduled meeting on this matter with the Minister of Finance, we will find a common and fair solution to everyone's satisfaction", the statement of the Municipality of Pljevlja states.
