Since the beginning of the year, the Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City has had more than 3.000 interventions, which were not only fires.

This was said by the acting commander of the Podgorica Protection and Rescue Service, Zdravko Blečić, on the occasion of the celebration of 71 years of work.

He said that Podgorica firefighters have been protecting Podgorica for decades and added that it is a privilege to be a firefighter.

"Firefighters helped so that they often risked their own lives. It was not easy to pull the injured person out of the crushed car, seeing blood, hearing screams and cries. The role of firefighters is becoming more and more important," said Blečić.

The President of the Assembly of the Capital City, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, congratulated the Day of the Protection and Rescue Service and emphasized that she was honored to have the opportunity to be part of the ceremony.

"Your engagement in this Service is much more of a humanitarian mission than a professional career. I perfectly understand the magnificence of the personal feeling when you save someone's life," she said.
