Miloš Konatar, the head of the parliamentary group of the Citizens' Movement URA and a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Health, Labor and Social Welfare, submitted to the chairman of that Committee, Dražen Petrić, a proposal for a control hearing of the Minister of Health, Vojislav Šimun, on the subject of the actions of the competent authorities in the case of the tragic death of mother Drita Tafa, it was announced from GP URA.
As stated in the announcement, Konatar stated in the explanation of the proposal that he was asking for it because, according to information available from the media, the case of the tragic death of the mother Drita Tafa from Ulcinj revealed serious deficiencies and possible omissions in the health system of Montenegro.
"Allegations of irregularities in the actions of the medical staff, as well as potential failures in the organization of treatment, caused deep public concern and seriously undermined citizens' trust in the health system. This tragic outcome especially indicates the necessity of an urgent review of responsibility at all levels, because the case in question in which human life was lost due to possible mistakes," Konatar pointed out.
He adds that although the Ministry of Health and competent institutions have launched an investigation, the public is rightly concerned about the delay in reaction and shifting of responsibility, and that this further calls into question the transparency and efficiency of the authorities' response to such cases.
"It is especially important that this case be investigated in detail, in order to determine the causes and the responsibility of all involved, from the medical staff and the hospital management to the supervisory institutions. It is essential that the responsibility for this tragedy be borne, and that the errors in the system be corrected , in order to prevent similar events in the future," said Konatar.

The head of the parliamentary club GP URA also noted that the Higher State Prosecutor's Office formed the case ex officio.
"In order to have a comprehensive overview of the situation, it is necessary to hold a control hearing of the Minister of Health Dr. Vojislav Šimun, director of the General Hospital in Bar, representative of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office. The hearing will be an opportunity for the Ministry of Health to take responsibility and provide concrete answers about what it will do to ensured that the highest standards of responsibility and patient safety are applied in the health sector," said Konatar.
He appealed that the session of the Committee for Health, Labor and Social Welfare, where the control hearing will be decided, be held as soon as possible.
