The Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced that the photos of Defense Minister Dragan Krapović wearing golden shoes are fake, and that they were created with the aim of ruining his reputation and discrediting his work.
"The Ministry of Defense reacts to the false and malicious information circulating on social networks about the Minister of Defense Dragan Krapović. These photos and statements, which show the minister in allegedly branded 'golden' shoes of 1450 euros with an inappropriate 'description' of his career and education, represent an obvious photo - editing, misinformation and malicious campaign with the aim of ruining his reputation and discrediting his work," the announcement states.
The MoD said that Krapović is a lawyer with many years of experience, a former deputy and president of the Municipality of Budva, "known for his dedication and professional approach to public office".
"Attempts to portray an official as 'arrogant' through such misinformation are nothing more than attempts to manipulate public opinion, in the same way that public officials discredited themselves on the Udar me portal," it added.
"We call on all the media, first of all and especially TV E, which reported this news and knowingly spread disinformation, with the aim of discrediting it, to respect professional standards and contribute to accurate information of the public. We expect them to publish our reaction in its entirety, so that the citizens will be truthful informed. The Ministry of Defense will continue to protect the dignity of its representatives, public officials and all its employees and prevent the spread of baseless accusations and slander," the statement concluded.
