The Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Montenegro, with the support of the Ministry of Health, acquired ten ambulances with complete medical equipment, the institution announced.
The announcement adds that the funds are allocated to the capital budget for 2024, and that the value of the procurement is 626.864,70 euros including VAT.
The ceremonial handover of the vehicle was attended by the Minister of Health of Montenegro Vojislav Šimun, Director of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Montenegro Vuk Niković and Director of the Health Insurance Fund Vuk Kadić.
The announcement states that Šimun handed over the keys to the new vehicles to the employees of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance and pointed out that the Government allocated over 600 euros for this investment from the capital budget.
"It is very important to note that the vehicles have state-of-the-art medical equipment and will provide more efficient and high-quality protection for citizens, while they will enable employees to provide emergency medical assistance in a safer and more comfortable way. I must say that all this is part of a wider project to strengthen the units of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance , where, in addition to the modernization of the vehicle fleet, we also take part in the renovation of the Institute's units throughout Montenegro. What is important to note is that, in addition to the Health Insurance Fund, the management of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance is a very important partner, which, with its maximum involvement, enables the level of emergency medical assistance in Montenegro will be raised to the highest possible level because it is one of the most important segments of the Montenegrin health system," Šimun pointed out.
Niković pointed out that the procurement of new ambulances significantly raised the level of medical aid.
"Thanks to the team of people in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Montenegro and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, a tender was made that saved certain funds. Thanks to this, together with the Health Insurance Fund, which will allocate part of the funds, we will soon have another new, modernly equipped medical vehicle for the needs of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Montenegro", emphasized Niković.
Kadić emphasized the importance of cost rationalization, which makes significant savings in the health budget, and cited the management of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Montenegro as a good example.
"Savings that we then use precisely for the purpose of improving the services of the entire health system and the conditions in which our doctors and medical staff work. The health insurance fund allocated an additional 110 thousand euros at the end of June, part of which will be spent on the purchase of another ambulance and the rest of about 30 euros for the delivery vehicle and 50 euros that we provided for the improvement of the software system within the ambulance," concluded Kadić.
The announcement states that the new ambulances will be delivered to emergency medical aid units in Budva, Nikšić, Cetinje, Kolašin, Petnjica, Tivat, Andrijevica, Podgorica, Danilovgrad and Bar.
