Elementary school "Mojsije Stevanović" in Morača Monastery celebrated 170 years of existence. They marked the important holiday with a ceremony, and director Nikola Baković said that there are now 21 students in that institution, including two in the regional department in Bara.
"Not so long ago, the corridors and classrooms of our school were cramped for all the students, who were learning the first letters and numbers here and in eight other regional classes. However, even though there are now only a small number of students, the teachers try to make sure that our children do not in which they are not lagging behind, compared to children who grow up and study in rural areas. This is confirmed by the results achieved by our students at municipal and state competitions," said Baković.
According to the director of one of the oldest schools in Montenegro, that institution received modern computer equipment last year. With the funds of the Ministry of Education, these days, Baković announced, work is starting on the reconstruction of the school building, that is, the renovation of the facade and locksmith.
The director also recalled the rich history of the primary school in Morača Monastery.
"For the first almost 100 years, the school was in the port of the monastery. For the other 70 years, the classrooms were located in the same building. A large number of important personalities in the fields of culture, literature, journalism, political life, sports, spirituality began their education in this institution..." said the director of Elementary School Mojsije Stevanović.
In addition to the students, KUD Vesna from Mojkovac participated in the cultural and artistic program, which marked the 17 decades of existence of the school in Morača monastery.
