The President of the Municipality of Ulcinj, Genci Nimanbeg, sent a letter to the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić, and the Minister of Health, Vojislav Šimun, in which he requests budget funds for the next year for the construction of an operating room in the Ulcinj Maternity Hospital, as well as funds for the preparation of project documentation for the new hospital in Ulcinj. it was announced from Nimanbegu's office.
"In a letter to Nimanbeg, the President expresses his regret for the tragic case of the loss of life of Drita Tafa and the serious health situation of fellow citizen Asmira Aljošević, and asks the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health for support in disclosing the truth of these events, because the statement of the director of the Bar General Hospital, Ivan Karisik, was very disturbing and increased insecurity of the citizens of Ulcinj Municipality, when it comes to health treatments," the announcement reads.
The mother of Drita Taf from Ulcinj died on Saturday, November 2 at the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG), and the competent institutions are determining the circumstances that led to the death. Also, the Higher State Prosecutor's Office created a case regarding that case.
On September 13, Vesna Đokvučić gave birth to Tafa by caesarean section in the hospital in Bar, but complications arose immediately after that, which resulted in the death of the mother after almost 40 days of treatment.
On November 9, women's organizations in Ulcinj welcomed the ministry's decision to terminate Đokvučić's employment at the hospital in Bar, following the death of Tafa.
The director of the hospital in Bar, Igor Karišik, said on November 6 that the Commission for Quality Control at the Bar General Hospital concluded that all medical principles and rules of the profession were followed in the treatment of mothers Drita Tafa and Asmira Aljošević, in accordance with currently valid protocols.
