Last weekend, karate players Marina Raković and Mario Hodžić were guests of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education in Nikšić, and in the Diagnostic Center, which is part of this faculty, anthropometric and functional measurements were performed.
The measurement was carried out by prof. Kemal Idrizović, Ph.D., Danilo Bojanić, Ph.D., Rajko Milašinović, M.Sc., and Ivan Vasiljević, M.Sc.
"Based on the innovative Tanita scale instrument, the karate players had an insight into the percentage of fat content in the body structure, as well as a segmental analysis of the fat percentage. Based on the additional software, which the Diagnostic Center owns, information was also obtained on the percentage values of muscle and bone mass, as well as metabolism parameters," announced the Faculty of Sports.
The karate players, who are scholarship holders of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (COK) and who brought Montenegro two bronze medals in the senior competition from the world and European championships, were also assessed for functional ability parameters, and based on the Harvard step test, they received aerobic capacity values.
They were also tested on the podoscope, an instrument for plantar foot analysis.
Hodžić is the winner of the award for exceptional sports results on the international level and the promotion of Montenegrin sports and values, which was recently established by the scientific journal "Montenegrin journal of sports science and medicine".
"Diagnostics in sports is a fundamental science that drives top results, and every successful sports team should use at least some kind of diagnostic tools for testing and evaluating athletes and for creating a training process," said the Faculty and added that they will continue to expand the activities of the Diagnostic Center and the base of athletes who have received scholarships from the COK.
