Today, the Bosniak Party (BS) submitted to the parliamentary procedure amendments to the Law on Social and Child Protection, which stipulate that families with more than five children receive child allowance.
The proposed changes are intended to protect the most sensitive category of society, namely children, said BS MP Edina Dešić.
"The current legal solution stipulates that up to five children in a family can exercise the right to child allowance, which discriminates against other children in the family. Families with more than five children are an exception in today's society, so it is the state's duty to protect them additionally and not limit them".
Dešić emphasized that care for each individual must be carried out without exception and selectivity.
"Especially bearing in mind the results of the Census of Population, Households and Apartments from 2023, whose comparative data with the census from 2011 indicate that our population is aging, and that especially the municipalities in the north are facing population depopulation. Bearing in mind that in accordance with Article 1 of the Constitution, Montenegro is a state of social justice, and that in Article 19 everyone has the right to equal protection of their rights, the care of every individual, especially a child, must be carried out without exception and selectivity", she announced. is she.
The amendments exclude the obligation of children who are beneficiaries of personal disability allowance to attend regular schooling until the age of 18 in order to obtain the right to child allowance.
"Due to the health condition of certain children who are beneficiaries of personal disability benefits, they are unable to attend school regularly".
Dešić said that she expects the support of all parliamentary clubs for the adoption of this bill, bearing in mind the importance of the proposed changes.
