The President of the Municipality of Nikšić, Marko Kovačević, sent a letter to the Bogetići Local Community Council that, as they requested, they would no longer bury euthanized, diseased cattle on the territory of that local community, and that they would repair the road infrastructure in Ljesko doli, the place where in the previous cattle buried three times.
This was announced by the president of the Bogetići Municipal Council, Mijajlo Škuletić, at the protest held this morning in front of the Municipality building.
As he said, the agreement was reached at the meeting with Kovačević and the Vice-President of the Municipality, Zoran Tomić, so that after the signed answer, they give up the blockade of the Nikšić-Podgorica main road, which they blocked for an hour a day for the previous 15 days.
"Almost three months of pain and trouble that befell us regarding the burying of dead cows, we can finally come out to you with better news. It remains a bitter memory of three months in 2024, we will not forget the reckless unloading of cows, the destruction of bad roads, in one place even total interruption of the road, arrest of disgruntled citizens, on 15 cold nights out on the highway, kilometer-long columns of stopped cars and we wonder, and the answer is clear as day, should it have come to this? We needed more sense and good will, better to say the cooperation of the local government with us, and surely this problem would have been solved in a valid way, but better late than never. Finally, in a minute to 12, yesterday they called us for the second time and here they signed what we have been demanding all this time. Who works and makes mistakes, so I ask the local self-government representatives not to repeat the mistakes they made for us in the future, but to cooperate with the Councils of the Ministry of Health where the need arises. for any activity. Some people tried to classify this struggle as political, and we have shown, as many times before, that these are just lies and that this is just a struggle for survival and normal life in our MoZ," said Škuletić.
Councilors from the European Team for Nikšić coalition and independent councilor Tatjana Knežević Perišić were also at the protest.
The Council of the Ministry of Health previously invited the councilors to come and hear "about their plight" before the start of the session, which is being held this morning.
In Kovačević's letter to the Council of the Ministry of Health, it is written that "within the authority of the Municipality of Nikšić, the powers that we have as a local self-government, in the part that depends strictly on the Municipality of Nikšić, we will not determine the locations for the burial of euthanized domestic animals, on the territory of the Ministry of Health Bogetići, neither on private nor on the state land, because we believe that the existing locations designated for this purpose on the territory of this MZ and where the burial was carried out, have done enough against the spread of Q fever in this region".
"In terms of the tasks and competences of the Government of Montenegro and the rights it has on these and other issues, we cannot guarantee how it will be decided on this issue. We note that until now, in the area of competence of the Municipality of Nikšić, we have been in the mood and in the area of our jurisdiction planned not to re-determine the location in this MZ", the letter states.
As stated, by the orders of the Government of Montenegro, they were obliged to submit as a proposal for the burial of euthanized livestock all locations with state-owned land. Among the many locations was the last one in Bogetići Municipality, which was the only one with a positive hydrogeological finding of the terrain, and as such was chosen by the Government to bury cattle there.
"Regarding the damaged road infrastructure on the parts of the roads towards the locations where the euthanized cattle were buried, after the municipal services have inspected the damage together with the members of the Council of the Ministry of Health, the repair of the damage will be started," Kovačević's answer reads.
Škuletić said that as early as tomorrow, Municipality workers will visit the road in Ljesko Doli and determine the condition, in order to start repairing the road.
