The President of the Supreme Court, Valentina Pavličić, took office this morning after taking the oath.
The Supreme Court announced that Pavličić was elected by the votes of all seven members of the Judicial Council present, after the General Session of the Supreme Court, on November 19, proposed her as a candidate for president.
Pavličić, on the eve of the election, as stated in the announcement, stated that the situation in the judiciary is not good and that the analysis shows that the Montenegrin judicial system is not able to handle the influx of cases.
She pointed out that those who baselessly attack judges and courts must be aware that they are undermining the state.
Regarding the work of the Special Division of the High Court, she said that cases of corruption and organized crime cannot be tried as before, and that each judge of this division must have a program of work, how and in what manner they will complete their cases.
From 2013 to 2015, Pavličić was the president of the Criminal Division of the High Court in Podgorica, and then from September 2015 until the beginning of this year, she represented Montenegro before the European Court of Human Rights.
