Of the 13.694 violations for illegal parking in the capital this year, 15 percent of them refer to the illegal parking of cars in places reserved for persons with disabilities (PWD), the Administration for Inspection Affairs (UIP) of the Capital City told "Vijesta".
The UIP assessed that this was arrogant and unconscionable behavior, and added that violations of this type "represent their first priority in solving".
"The awareness of those irresponsible individuals, but also lack of education or lack of culture, as we can comfortably call arrogant parking of vehicles in places marked for PWDs, contribute to the fact that this vulnerable category of fellow citizens, in addition to the primary one, faces additional difficulties in functioning due to the arrogant behavior of irresponsible individuals", they said. from UIP.
From the beginning of the year until yesterday, that Administration issued a total of 13.694 misdemeanor orders for illegal parking, and they estimated that by the end of the year, over 15.000 misdemeanor orders will be issued for illegally parked vehicles in Podgorica.
Of that number of fines, about 35 percent have been collected, the Podgorica administration said, but they also expect that percentage to be significantly higher by the time the cases are finally processed.
The UIP of the Capital City said that sometimes a quick reaction of the "spider" vehicle is impossible when citizens park in places designated for PWDs.
"Taking into account the overall problem of illegal parking in Podgorica and all the factors that affect its solution, in some situations it is impossible for the 'spider' vehicles and the acting inspectors to react immediately to every report from citizens, but we try to ensure that applications for PWD places are always a priority in treatment", they said from that Administration.
That administration assessed that the phenomenon of illegal parking is very pronounced in Podgorica, as well as that unscrupulous individuals do not even avoid parking in places with PWDs.
"We strive to focus special attention on solving the problems of those categories of fellow citizens who are the most vulnerable to this kind of reckless behavior, but we are fully committed to meet all situations and provide the necessary help from the scope of action," said the Podgorica UIP.
They appealed to all drivers to contribute to less congestion with their behavior, and not to hinder the functioning of PWDs in the capital city with their irresponsible behavior.
"We are available to our fellow citizens with disabilities via phone number 067 245 799 or e-mail address uip@podgorica.me for all applications related to reserved places for people with disabilities," said the Podgorica administration.
