Kasim Dizdarević was the only one to apply for the public call for the election of one member of the Judicial Council from among distinguished lawyers, it was announced at the session of the Parliamentary Committee for Political System, Judiciary and Administration.
The public invitation was announced on August 1, after the Council informed the Committee about the termination of the mandate of Fikret Kurgaš due to his death.
"To our surprise, only one candidate applied for the public invitation - Kasim Dizdarević," said the president of the Board, Vladislav Bojović, at today's session.
At the session, it was also agreed that the Board should send a letter to the Bar Association with a request to issue a public invitation for the missing member of the Prosecutor's Council (TS) and submit the proposal to that parliamentary working body for further implementation.
Two positions in the Prosecutor's Council were vacant after the resignations of lawyers Siniša Gazivoda and Marko Vuksanović.
Bojović pointed out that with the adoption of the Law on State Prosecution, changes were made in relation to the selection of members of the TS, so now the Board, instead of five, proposes four members of the Prosecutor's Council.
As he explained, the Board is announcing a public call for two distinguished lawyers, one member from the non-governmental sector (NGO) and proposing one candidate for whom the Bar Association is calling for a public call.
"Given the fact that the Prosecutor's Council already has two distinguished lawyers and one representative of the NGO sector, the Bar Association is obliged to issue a public call for one missing member of the TS", said Bojović.
