All services in Bijelo Polje are fully prepared for the winter season. These days, Komunalno Lim crews have been working on almost all road directions in that municipality to clear the snow.
Secretary of the Secretariat for Housing, Communal Affairs and Traffic Dusko Ruzic said that again this year, with the agreement on entrusting the performance of communal activities and the use of communal infrastructure and other assets owned by the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, Komunalno Lim, the Municipality has timely started preparations for work in winter conditions, in terms of bringing machinery to a state of technical correctness, procurement of missing equipment and tools for work, as well as the procurement of sufficient quantities of salt, paddy and slag.
"For the winter season 2024/2025. 90 percent of the machinery that DOO Komunalno Lim intends to engage in winter conditions for the removal of ice and snow has been serviced and brought to a working condition. In the past few days, a small quantity of missing chains was delivered, with which we will replace and complete the same on the existing machinery," said Ružić.
As it is necessary to use industrial salt and rice paddy for high-quality winter maintenance of streets and sidewalks in the city and suburban settlements, the company has already provided and placed 60 tons of salt and 10 cubic meters of rice paddy in depots for this purpose, with the fact that they are with the local contracted with the supplier and another 300 cubic meters of paddy can be withdrawn from his depot at any moment, depending on temperature conditions and the intensity of snowfall.
"According to the work plan and program of Komunalno Lim Bijelo Polje, for the maintenance of local roads during the winter period, a certain amount of slag is delivered on elevations and bends where necessary. On 20.11.2024. 80 cubic meters of slag were delivered on different routes, in the next few days another 140 cubic meters would be needed, and according to the plan and program, a quantity of 300 cubic meters is foreseen for the whole winter," said Ružić, noting that additional quantities of slag, if if necessary, procure from neighboring municipalities.
He reminded that Komunalno Lim will also maintain local roads, streets in the city and suburban settlements this year, in accordance with the Plan and work program of DOO Komunalno Lim.
For these needs, Komunalno Lim will hire its available machinery, which consists of: snowplow truck, MAN 240 (duplex), snowplow trucks with salt spreaders "unimog" (1200, 1400 and 1600), large tractor snowplow "terion" with cutter for snow removal, small tractor snow plow with salt spreader, TAFE 45 DI as well as small tractors, a snow plow with a salt spreader, LOVOL 854 and a snow plow, LOVOL 904. Of the construction machines available are a grader, a snow plow, a combined machine - JCB, 2 pieces and a bulldozer - TG 110," he said.
As for the work equipment, there are ice cutters, cutters for removing snow. 20 drivers will be employed on the roads, while another 20 workers will be employed in the city and suburban settlements.
