The Ministry of Health signed a contract with the Nikšić-based company Roaming Montenegro for work on improving the energy efficiency of health centers in Herceg Novi and Bar, worth 1,25 million euros, the government department announced.

The contract with that company was signed, on behalf of the Ministry of Health, by the responsible minister Vojislav Šimun.

He pointed out that today the Ministries of Health and Energy have successfully continued the implementation of the "Energy Efficiency in Montenegro" project, the aim of which is, among other things, the adaptation of health institutions and the improvement of energy efficiency, but also the provision of better conditions for work and comfort, both for employees , as well as patients.

So far, as Šimun said, 29 health institutions have been adapted through this project, with a total value of 12,2 million euros.

He said that the contract, which they signed today, refers to works on the replacement of facade locksmithing, the installation of thermal insulation of the roof surfaces and the solar system for heating sanitary hot water, as well as the replacement and improvement of the lighting and heating system.

Šimun emphasized that, as a result of this contract, all the health facilities that were foreseen in the MEEP 2 project were adapted.

He added that, through the cooperation of state institutions, a high-quality process was completed to the satisfaction of all citizens.

The Ministry of Health stated that the signing of the contract, which is being implemented as part of the "Energy efficiency in Montenegro - second phase" project, was attended by the Minister of Energy, Saša Mujović.

After signing the contract, he pointed out that a very successful project, which was started in 2018 with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), whose focus is improving energy efficiency in public buildings in Montenegro, was continued.

As he said, through that project, 38 public buildings were improved from the aspect of energy efficiency, and the benefits are multiple.

"The first and basic thing is to increase energy efficiency and reduce the use of energy sources, and it is at the level of 35 percent. "Through the reduction of consumption, financial savings are achieved, which again flow into the budget and we have new funds for new projects to improve energy efficiency," Mujović said.

He announced the start of a new project in cooperation with IBRD, within which the concept of the project, which proved to be of high quality and sustainable, will be retained, and the focus will be on improving energy efficiency in the buildings of the University of Montenegro and other administrative facilities of the state.
