During 2023 and 2024, the labor inspectorate issued misdemeanor orders in the amount of almost 200.000 euros due to irregularities found in connection with the employment of minors.
This was told to "Vijesti" by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue, within which the Labor Inspectorate has recently been operating.
During last year's summer season, inspectors found 76 irregularities related to the employment of minors, for which 134 misdemeanor orders were issued in the total amount of 73.900 euros.

The Labor Law stipulates that a person under the age of 18 can establish an employment relationship with the written consent of a parent, adoptive parent or guardian, if such work does not endanger his health, morals and education, that is, it is not prohibited. The law also stipulates that an employee under the age of 18 cannot work at night, unless he performs work in the fields of culture, sports, art and advertising, or when it is necessary to continue work interrupted by force majeure.
During 2024, the labor inspection determined 104 irregularities, for which 156 misdemeanor orders were issued in the total amount of 125.300 euros.
The largest number of minors, as they explained, were found working in the catering and trade sectors, in coastal municipalities during the summer tourist season, and thus the highest number of irregularities related to the employment of minors was found in these sectors.
"The most common violations were working without weekly rest for two consecutive days, working at night, concluding an employment contract without parental consent and without the findings of the competent health authority determining the minor's ability to perform the work for which the employment contract is concluded," they said. from that ministry.
They pointed out that the efforts of the Labor Inspectorate in connection with the verification of the legality of employment of minors were recognized and praised by the opinion of the institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms from September of this year.
"In that opinion, it was pointed out that in the previous two years, the inspection intensified the implementation of supervision over the employment of children - minors," said the Ministry.
