Podgorica has been declared the most transparent municipality in Montenegro, it was announced from the capital city.

The Mayor of Podgorica, Olivera Injac, said that she was pleased because the capital was declared the most transparent municipality in Montenegro as part of a project aimed at improving the participation of citizens in decision-making processes and shaping public policies.

"Direct democracy is not just a political concept, but a way to create policies based on the real needs of citizens. In this way, we build trust and make Podgorica a better place to live," said Injac.

As she stated, numerous processes are continuously implemented based on the principle of openness and accessibility in order to make the capital city truly close to citizens.

The award for the most transparent municipality in Montenegro was awarded within the project "Transparent organs - informed citizenship", which is implemented by the Center for Civic Education with the support of the Ministry of Public Administration.

"I am convinced that we will remain an example and partner to other municipalities that share with us a vision of responsible and transparent management, as a common aspiration to bring all institutions closer to the citizens, both at the local and state level," said Injac.

The recognition was received on behalf of the Capital City by Slađana Anđušić, Secretary of the Secretariat for Local Self-Government and Cooperation with Civil Society, who pointed out that it represents a confirmation of the efforts of all employees in the Capital City.

"This award obliges us to continue improving our services, especially through digitization and increasing citizen participation in decision-making processes. During 2024, the capital worked intensively on improving transparency, which is confirmed by this award," said Andjušić.

In addition to the capital city, the Municipality of Herceg Novi (second prize) and the Municipality of Bar (third prize) also received awards for transparency.
