The member of the European Union in the Assembly of the Capital City, Miloš Mašković, said that the director of RTV Podgorica, Vladimir Otašević, did nothing to prove that his claims were not true, but that by "violating" the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly of the Capital City (the founder of Gradska RTV), he was trying to intimidate him in front of the public. court proceedings against him.
Otašević accused Mašković of defamation and told him that he "will have to prove the allegations in the appropriate procedure before the competent authorities".
"Such inappropriate behavior of the director of a public service, an institution that should serve citizens and not protect the interests of individuals, best illustrates the situation in that local public broadcaster. Public office carries with it the responsibility for transparency and openness towards the public, and freedom of speech, which would it was Mr. Otašević who should have defended, it must not be undermined by threats and pressure," said Mašković.
He stated that "I did not experience today's attempt at intimidation as a surprise".
"Just as I was not surprised by his inappropriate pressure when, a few months ago, around midnight, he called me on my private phone number 'to ask me' to be more correct in my public statements towards Gradska RTV. Such moves open up serious questions about how the director of Gradska RTV understands the concept of responsibility and professionalism".

Mašković also said that it is unacceptable that, instead of clearly answering questions about the spending of citizens' money and media operations, the management of Gradska RTV uses methods that threaten basic democratic rights and try to intimidate anyone who dares to ask legitimate questions.
"This is not only a problem for me as a councilor - it is a problem for all citizens who expect responsibility and transparency from the institutions they finance with their money. I call on Mr. Otašević to stop this kind of pressure and to turn to what should be the priority of every public function - responsibilities towards citizens. Public office is not a privilege, but an obligation," concluded Mašković.
