A business building with an area of less than 1.000 square meters is planned on the plot of the former military barracks in the Zagorič neighborhood of Podgorica and is not subject to the obligation to carry out an environmental impact assessment.
This was announced by the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North.
More than a dozen pines and cypresses were cut down on the site of the former military barracks across from "City Quay" in the Zagorič neighborhood of Podgorica.
"The inspector determined that based on the Act of the Environmental Protection Agency No. 03-UPI-1947/2 dated November 05.11.2024, 1.000, it was determined that the implementation of this project is not subject to the obligation to carry out an environmental impact assessment, since the planned area of the business part of the building is less than XNUMX m², which is in accordance with the current Regulation on projects for which an impact assessment is carried out within the boundaries of the protected nature area 'Park Šuma Gorica'", announced the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North.
They add that the inspection was also carried out by a forestry inspector who, within the scope of his competence and in accordance with the law, will draw up a report.
"The Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North remains committed to the preservation of natural resources and the implementation of legal obligations in this area," the announcement concludes.
