Prime Minister Milojko Spajić said that the message of the Environmental Inspection about cut down pines and cypresses in Zagoric, according to which the private sector is not obliged to carry out an environmental impact assessment, is "disheartening".
Spajić wrote on his account on the X network that the message carries the conclusion that in addition to better regulation, and stronger control by the state through inspections, people's environmental awareness is also needed to change.
"Private land that is not in a protected zone is not subject to state control... Changing the way of thinking is a process that can last for decades, but it should be pointed out as much as possible in order to start things from the ecological dead as soon as possible," wrote Spajić.
More than a dozen pines and cypresses were cut down on the site of the former military barracks across from "City Quay" in the Zagorič neighborhood of Podgorica.
