The educational community of Montenegro requests from the competent institutions an urgent and thorough investigation of the case of sexual harassment by the teaching staff, as well as the taking of all legal measures against the perpetrator.
"The educational community of Montenegro strongly condemns any form of inappropriate behavior in educational institutions, especially when it comes to abuse of position and jeopardizing the safety of pupils and students. Regarding the recent announcement by CIN-CG and advertising on social media by a former student, in which she accuses the teacher of inappropriate behavior towards her, but also towards other students, who do not have the courage to publicly announce themselves, we express our deep disappointment and concern," the announcement reads.
They add that the association stands by the schoolgirls and their families, providing support in all further steps towards justice and the protection of their rights.
"We demand from the competent institutions an urgent and thorough investigation of this case, as well as the taking of all legal measures against the perpetrator. We also appeal to educational institutions and responsible authorities to strengthen preventive measures and mechanisms for the protection of pupils and students, so that educational institutions are a safe environment for everyone. "Education must be a space of trust, safety and support, and every form of deviant behavior must be met with determined resistance and condemnation," the announcement concludes.
