The State Archives of Montenegro signed an agreement on cooperation with the State Archives of Albania, which, they say, opened a new chapter in the development of inter-institutional relations. The ceremony in the premises of the Archives in Cetinje was the central event of the visit of the delegation of the State Archives of Albania, led by the director Ardit Bido.
The agreement, which was signed by the director of the State Archives of Montenegro, Danilo Mrvaljević, and Bido, includes the exchange of professional knowledge, the implementation of joint projects, research programs and the promotion of archival materials of importance to both countries.
Mrvaljević expressed his satisfaction that the event was held in Cetinje.
"I am sure that the agreement we signed will open up new opportunities and renew our old deep-rooted ties. We have the opportunity to implement many projects together, starting already next year".
Mrvaljević also emphasized the importance of such agreements in deepening mutual understanding and strengthening cultural and professional cooperation between Montenegro and Albania.
"In this way, we not only improve the archival profession, but also deepen our knowledge about our peoples and countries. Agreements like today's contribute not only to connecting archives, but also to strengthening relations and bringing our peoples closer together".
As part of the agreement, cooperation will begin next year with the exchange of archival materials, the research of documents that testify to the history of Montenegro and Albania, and the organization of thematic exhibitions in both countries. In addition, the State Archives of Albania will host an archivist from Montenegro in order to exchange experiences and improve professional standards.
Bido expressed satisfaction at the signing of the agreement, emphasizing its importance at the institutional, cultural and archival level.
"I am convinced that the strengthening of this cooperation will allow historical and cultural materials to see the light of day, while at the same time we improve and consolidate what we already have." The connection between our peoples, the communities on both sides of the Bojana River, as well as the life and work of great figures from the history of both countries, open immense opportunities for joint projects. Cooperation in the cultural field is a natural step towards strengthening the relationship between our archives".
At the ceremony, the ambassador of Albania in Montenegro, Žaklina Peto, addressed the audience, who said that this agreement is "a new proof of goodwill to deepen cooperation and enrich the cultural heritage for future generations", opening the door for new joint projects that will serve as a model for regional cooperation.
A delegation of the State Archives of Albania visited Montenegro on December 5 and 6, and the State Archives of Montenegro prepared a "rich two-day program", which brought the cultural and historical heritage of Montenegro closer to the guests.
"In addition to the solemn ceremony of signing the agreement, the Albanian delegation visited the State Archives in Cetinje, then the National Museum of Montenegro and the Cetinje Monastery. On the last day, a visit to the Historical Archives in Kotor was organized, which rounded off this important visit," the announcement reads.
