Advisor at the Institute of Marine Biology, Dr. Vesna Mačić, will be part of the Bulgarian research expedition to the South Pole.
During the reception with the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, she said that she was honored to represent Montenegro in such an important scientific endeavor.
She also said that this expedition is an opportunity for her personal and professional development, but also for the exchange of knowledge and experiences with colleagues from other countries.
"President Milatović expressed his satisfaction that Dr. Mačić, as a result of his initiative during the conversation with the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, will have the opportunity to be part of this important mission," his cabinet announced.
He pointed out that he is particularly proud of the fact that Dr. Mačić will be the first female scientist from Montenegro to stay at the South Pole, thus laying the foundations for a greater presence of Montenegrin researchers in international scientific projects.
Milatović emphasized that this event is the first step in opening up new opportunities for Montenegrin scientists, expressing his readiness to actively contribute to the connection of Montenegrin scientific institutions with international scientific centers through further diplomatic cooperation.
He said that this is an opportunity to "promote our scientists on a global level, but also to improve the status of Montenegro on the European and world scientific scene".
In the end, it was concluded that this is an important moment for Montenegrin science and that the participation of Dr. Mačić at the South Pole will be an incentive for both young scientists and institutions to intensify their work on international cooperation and the development of science in our country.
