The winners of the January 7 Municipal Award, which is awarded in Mojkovac every third year, are Dr. Veselin Ilić, Bećir Vuković, Sports Club (SK) "Serdar", Culture and Arts Society (KUD) "Vesna" and Radenko Mijo Jovanović.
As written in the explanation of the jury, Ilić deserved this recognition because "his life and career are an example of dedication to science and contribution to Mojkovac and its citizens, who through his work and involvement received much more than professional research, but were inspiration and support for the development of the local community".
"During his career, he has gained recognition as one of the leading experts in the field of electrical engineering, both locally and nationally. He is the author of 14 books and a large number of scientific papers. For many years, he was a lecturer in electrical engineering and other subject groups at "Vuksan Đukić" Secondary School, is part of the explanation.
Vuković is a member of the Association of Writers of Serbia, the Association of Writers of Montenegro, a regular member of the International Slovenian Academy of Literature and Art, as well as a regular member of Matica Srpska. He is the president of the Society of Serbian Writers of Montenegro and Herzegovina.
"His poems have been translated into English, French, Russian, Greek, Armenian, Italian, Chinese, Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Turkish and Macedonian. He is the recipient of numerous literary awards, including the Marko Miljanov Award (1989) of the Association of Writers of Montenegro and the Risto Ratković Award (1995), which are among the most important literary awards in Crkja Gora, and in 2010 he was the winner of the prestigious Serbian literary award Kočićevo pen," the jury wrote in the explanation.
Sports club "Serdar" started its work in 2013. In addition to the football school, which is intended for the youngest, there are also two competitive teams, the roosters and the pioneers. As the jury reminds, the club achieved significant results in all selections.
"A large number of participants of this club were members of the national team of Montenegro, which proves the success of the club. The professional and dedicated work of the trainers is reflected in the increasing number of participants, so the Club becomes richer for new members every year", is part of the explanation.
KUD "Vesna" has existed for two decades and "aims at the preservation, promotion and development of cultural heritage and art in the local community." That KUD, announced the jury for the awarding of the most important Mojkovac municipal recognition, "preserves the common cultural and artistic heritage from oblivion and transience and performs dances from all parts of Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia". He is the recipient of a large number of awards and certificates of appreciation.
Jovanović is an economist, and thirty years ago he founded a company for wholesale trade, which, according to the jury, "generates the growth and development of the local community".
"Through its entrepreneurial activities, it contributes to employment. In addition, Jovanović is one of the founders and initiator of numerous organizations, including the Association of Economists Mojkovac and the Association of Employers Mojkovac. Among the founders is the Mountaineering Sports Club (PSK) of Prošćenska planina". He was the president of the Church Municipality of Mojkovac at the time when the Church of Christ's Nativity was built and consecrated. Special attention deserves the humanitarian work of this man, who during 30 years of business has continuously supported numerous sports, cultural, educational and other manifestations in our city", is part of the reason why this Mojkova resident received recognition.
The award, which consists of a plaque and a monetary amount of 2.500 euros, will be presented to the winners by the President of the SO Marko Janketić at a formal session on the occasion of January 7, the Day of the Municipality.
