The President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović announced today that solving pressing issues such as inadequate work of local companies, unplanned construction and traffic problems must be a priority in the management of Podgorica.
The Office for Public Relations of the President of Montenegro announced that Milatović congratulated December 19, the Day of the Capital City of Podgorica.
"On this day 80 years ago, on December 19, 1944, the combined forces of the brave partisan units of the First Bokel and Tenth Montenegrin Brigades delivered the final blow to the occupier and the banner of freedom was carried through our Podgorica. Their libertarian anti-fascist aspiration shines like a lighthouse today, leaving us with the obligation to build a more prosperous future for all citizens of our country on the ideals of freedom, justice, equality and peace." pointed out Milatović in his congratulatory message.
He added that today, Podgorica faces new challenges and opportunities.
"Attracting investments and further investments in infrastructure, and solving pressing issues such as inadequate work of local companies, unplanned construction and traffic problems must be a priority in the management of the Capital City. These steps are necessary in order for our city to develop smarter and faster and reach the level of modern European cities, which, due to its importance and historical heritage, certainly belongs to it," said Milatović.
He said that the development of Podgorica must be dynamic, sustainable and aimed at long-term goals that improve the quality of life of all its residents.
"Transparent, efficient and responsible management, with a vision that puts people's needs first, is the key to our city becoming an even better place to live and work. With best wishes for Podgorica to be a symbol of progress, development and prosperity, once again to all citizens and I congratulate the citizens on the Day of the Capital City of Podgorica," President Milatović wrote in his congratulatory message.
Mayor of Podgorica Olivera Injac, on the occasion of December 19 - Podgorica Liberation Day, laid a wreath at the Partisan Fighter Monument in Gorica.
Podgorica was liberated from the German occupier on December 19, 1944.
