Cars break down due to potholes on the road Bijelo Polje - Berane

The main road Bijelo Polje - Berane in the towns of Zaton, Pašića polje, Brzava, as well as the entire section of the road to Berane, is in a catastrophic condition on certain sections, full of potholes that are impossible to bypass, and a similar condition is also on the part of the main road Mojkovac - BIjelo Polje , from Slijepač bridge to Ravna river.

The residents of those settlements, but the citizens, are outraged, especially after the contractor took the machines away from the construction site in the past few days. As "Vijesti" was told by the Municipality, the works on that part of the road are being carried out by the Bemax and Štrabag consortium.

Locals point out that there are large and deep potholes on the main road, because of which drivers destroy vehicles, especially carriers that deal with regular passenger transport with 20 or more lines per day.

Acting President of the MZ "Ravna Rijeka" Gojko Nedović he told "Vijesti" that road users and all drivers who drive on the route Ribarevine - Sljepač most are outraged by the attitude of the contractor towards the dynamics and way of carrying out works on the mentioned section.

"On that route, the safety of all road users and their lives is at risk. It happens every day that tires burst on potholes, as well as other material damage caused by bad sections of the road where work is being carried out," he said.

Nedović points out that an additional problem is that the "potholes" are filled with water and are not clearly visible, as well as that adequate signaling has not been installed. The citizens of the "Ravna Rijeka" MZ are also outraged by the pedestrian path and lighting that are not included in the reconstruction of the road, which, in his opinion, are necessary for the safety of all road users.

Nedović announced that the locals expect that the authorities will understand and correct the mistake made, and that, if something is not done urgently, the citizens will stop the reconstruction of the main road.

The inhabitants of Zaton and the surrounding towns along the BIjelo Polje-Berana main road face similar hardships.

Carrier Vlado Šunjevarić said that the residents of Zaton, Pašića polje and Brzava, as well as the line carriers for transporting passengers, are outraged by the actions of the companies working on the reconstruction of that road.

"The contractors have left, leaving the unfinished construction site and leaving behind chaos on the road. There are so many big and deep potholes on some sections that drivers simply have no solution or way to get past them, so driving over them leads to the destruction of the vehicle and loss of time. Because of all this, the intensity of passing vehicles has slowed down, which is why workers and students are late for work and classes," said Šunjevarić.

Immediately after the call to "Vijesti", the Traffic Administration said that they had asked the contractor for immediate repair of the potholes, which they began to do.
