Defense Minister Dragan Krapović said that the Chief of the General Staff, Brigadier General Zoran Lazarević participated in the fraud and that the fact that he is still in that position is "a disgrace and a shame".
He also announced that "all collected data and evidence" will be handed over to the Police Directorate and the Prosecutor's Office to determine possible criminal liability.

Krapović asked the authorities to investigate whether the executive director of the Durmitor Base Camp, Dejan Lazarević, could be brought into contact with the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro, Brigadier General Zoran Lazarević.
The brigadier general said that Lazarevic was his nephew, but that he had received an order from the minister to check whether they could transport the equipment to Lokvici by military helicopter.
In response, Krapović also submitted a document in which Lazarević, as he stated, "in an insidious and shameless manner once again tarnished the defense system and showed that he is not worthy of the position he is in, and not by my choice."
"The request received by the Ministry of Defense was, like any other, procedurally addressed to him and the General Staff, for the evaluation of all facts and circumstances, and the giving of a recommendation to the minister regarding its implementation. I am obliged to point out that it is in vain that General Lazarevic pretends to 'not from here', because everyone in the know knows that in the General Staff there is a J-2 department that deals with intelligence and security affairs in the Army of Montenegro, so this kind of request should certainly have been viewed from all angles aspects, including that of course," Krapović announced.
He added that "the kind of man he is is best told by the fact that he knew very well that it was not any non-governmental organization, but the commercial activity of his nephew's company, which was hidden behind the NGO ``Ljubitelji prirode'' from Nikšić in the request.
"So, Brigadier General Lazarević, currently serving as Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro (not by my will and choice) participated in the fraud. And once again, as he used military transport to smuggle the motorcycle he bought for his son into Montenegro, that's how he used the military helicopter, the means and the personnel of the Air Force of VCG for the needs and benefits of his nephew, the "environmentalist". is a shame and shame".
Krapović reminded that months ago he proposed to the Council for Defense and Security of Montenegro to replace "this sad excuse for the general".
"All collected data and evidence will be handed over to the Police Directorate and the Prosecutor's Office to determine possible criminal responsibility, and at the same time I appeal that the necessary decisions be made as soon as possible and that Mr. Lazarevic be immediately removed from the position of NGŠ. Otherwise, I am afraid that we will witness a setback by June VCG and the continuation of abuses that will degrade it irreversibly. In any case, the responsibility for such a thing is clearly addressed to the members of the Council, because Lazarevic does not have my support. My proposal is solely his dismissal, so the responsibility for everything we are watching and will watch, I reject and address those whose choice Lazarević was before, but obviously and certainly now," concluded Krapović.
