Defense Minister Dragan Krapović congratulated the citizens on the 109th anniversary of the Battle of Mojkovac, the Ministry of Defense announced.
"With pride and deep respect, today we mark the anniversary of the famous Battle of Mojkovac, which is a symbol of courage, honor and selflessness of Montenegrin heroes. This historical event, in which our ancestors showed superhuman determination and willingness to sacrifice themselves for the freedom and preservation of the dignity of their people, remains permanently inscribed in the foundations of Montenegrin identity and statehood," said Krapović.
"The courage of the Montenegrin soldiers at Mojkovac, led by Duke Janko Vukotić, inspires us even today, reminding us of the values we must cherish - patriotism, solidarity and loyalty to our country. Their sacrifice was not only an act of defense, but also an act of love for future generations." it says in the greeting card.

Krapović said that, as the Minister of Defense, he wants to emphasize that the Army of Montenegro "proudly relies on the traditions of our glorious ancestors, while building modern capacities to preserve peace and security."
"This anniversary obliges us to preserve peace and freedom, as well as to remember all those who laid down their lives for these values. On behalf of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Montenegro, I send sincere congratulations on the anniversary of the Battle of Mojkovac. May the heroism of our ancestors lead us to further construction of a just, free and safe society", it is stated.
The Battle of Mojkovac was fought on Christmas Day and Christmas Day, January 6 and 7, 1916, in the vicinity of Mojkovac, on the hills of Razvršje and Bojna Njiva. About 4.000 poorly armed soldiers of the Kingdom of Montenegro, under the command of Serdar Janko Vukotić, fought with more than 14.000 Austro-Hungarian soldiers commanded by General Rainer.
