Mayor of Cetinje Nikola Đurašković canceled his participation in the traditional Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., due to the tragic event that occurred in the capital on January 1st.
"The decision was made as a sign of respect for the families of the victims and injured, as well as all citizens of Cetinje. Cetinje is facing the consequences of this unfortunate event, and the mayor believes it is his obligation to be with the citizens in these difficult times," the Royal Capital announced.
Đurašković thanked the organizers for the invitation and understanding, with the belief that the Royal Capital of Cetinje "will continue to contribute to the development of mutual understanding and cooperation between peoples."
On January 1, Cetinje resident Aco Martinović shot and killed 13 fellow citizens, then committed suicide.
