The European Union will continue to stand by the citizens of Cetinje, said European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
She visited Cetinje today, paying tribute to the victims of the tragedy in which 13 people lost their lives, including two children.
"Commissioner Kos, accompanied by the Mayor of Cetinje, Nikola Đurašković, lit candles in front of the Lovćen Villa, expressing her deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this terrible tragedy," the European House announced.
Marta Kos emphasized her commitment to working together with the Montenegrin authorities to encourage the economic and social development of the city.
"Citizens of Cetinje, you are not alone. Let this moment of sadness be a reminder of the power of togetherness – within your community, Montenegro and the wider European family. Together we will overcome all challenges and secure a brighter future for Cetinje," said the Commissioner.
She also recalled the exceptional historical significance of Cetinje as a symbol of the rich European cultural heritage.
"Your recent marches in support of Ukraine have deeply touched us, demonstrating Cetinje's unwavering commitment to European values. This city is the embodiment of resilience, cultural richness and solidarity – values that lie at the heart of the European Union," said Marta Kos.
