Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development Damjan Ćulafić said that this year will be intensive and busy in fulfilling the obligations from Chapter 27 - Environment and Climate Change.
He made this statement at a meeting with the Danish Ambassador to Montenegro, Pernille Dahler Kardel.
The Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development announced that Kardel positively commented on the degree of fulfillment of obligations from the Action Plan for Meeting the Final Benchmarks in Chapter 27.
"Ćulafić emphasized that this year, when it comes to the process of Montenegro's accession to the European Union (EU) and the fulfillment of obligations under Chapter 27, will be intense and busy," the statement said.
He recalled the acts adopted so far and the projects implemented, and that the participation of all departments is important for the closure of Chapter 27.
"The very fact that more than 50 percent of the obligations have been fulfilled in six years, and that the deadline for closing the chapter is the end of 2026, shows how much work lies ahead of us," Ćulafić emphasized.
The statement states that Ćulafić emphasized the importance of friendly relations between Montenegro and Denmark, as well as the fact that a large number of Montenegrins live in Denmark.
Kardel said she was looking forward to getting to know Montenegro, considering that she had recently taken office.
"She particularly emphasized the importance of Montenegro's EU accession process and praised the progress in fulfilling the obligations our country has as a candidate for membership," the statement said.
Denmark, as Kardel said, will be a reliable partner for Montenegro on its path to full EU membership.
In this context, Ćulafić said that Denmark's support for Montenegro is extremely important.
"The interlocutors ultimately expressed optimism regarding future efforts in the field of ecology, sustainable development and environmental protection, agreeing that cooperation between Montenegro and Denmark will strengthen on the path of further progress towards the EU," the statement said.
