Television and the Vijesti portal are the main sources of information for citizens, according to research presented today during the conference "Media in Montenegro - Achievements and Challenges", organized by the Ministry of Culture and Media on the occasion of the Day of Montenegrin Journalists.
The research was conducted by professor and methodologist Miloš Bešić on a sample of 1.000 respondents in the period from October 15 to November 1, 2024. According to the results, 48,2 percent of citizens watch Television Vijesti daily, RTCG 37,8, TV Prva 27,8...
When it comes to portals, the Vijesti portal is by far the most visited, with 40,9 percent of citizens visiting it daily. It is followed by the RTCG portal with 26,8 percent, CDM with 22 percent, Portal Analitika with 18,2 percent, and Pobjeda with 12,9 percent.
Social networks, notes Bešić, have become the primary source of information, especially for the younger population, with Facebook and Instagram recording the highest traffic.
However, the Vijesti brand still competes with social networks.
"If we analyze the consumption of all media by hierarchy, regardless of type and category, we measure the highest rating when it comes to TV Vijesti, followed by Instagram and Facebook. The Vijesti portal also has a high rating, followed by YouTube and RTCG," the research states.
It is stated that respondents from the middle generation (35 to 54 years old) generally follow the media to the greatest extent, while younger people (18 to 34 years old) follow social networks on a daily basis. "The population older than 55 years of age predominantly consumes television and significantly less often other media," it is stated.
According to the same research, the education system enjoys the highest level of trust among citizens (62,9 percent), followed by the Serbian Orthodox Church (56,7), the European Union (56,4) and the media (56 percent), while the police, army, non-governmental organizations, the Parliament, the Government, the judiciary and the prosecution, the institution of the President of Montenegro... Citizens have the least trust in political parties (50 percent) and the Montenegrin Orthodox Church (24).
