We will repeat the initiative and address the Government to consider the possibility of finding an adequate location for the youth center, announced the Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović.

The Capital City of Podgorica announced that Mujović, along with deputies Nađa Ljiljanić and Boris Spalević, and the Secretary of the Secretariat for Financial Affairs and Budget Analysis Balša Špadier, visited the Public Institution (PU) Day Care Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities and Developmental Difficulties.

"On that occasion, in a conversation with the director, Olga Rovčanin, he learned about the way of working, what the current challenges are, as well as the institution's plans for the coming period," the statement said.

The Capital added that Mujović "expressed great gratitude and admiration, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Capital, to the staff of the Day Care Center who are dedicated to their work and represent the first line of assistance to both users and their parents."

"This is a visit that in a way puts the city's vision and priorities in the background, or rather changes that order. We are thinking and have been thinking about building new roads and bridges, but when you meet these children, their innocent smiles and curious looks, you simply realize that you have to direct your efforts and energy towards them. The day care center currently has around 20 children, and that is not enough in terms of capacity, compared to the needs of Podgorica," Mujović pointed out.

He added that the city administration will make additional efforts and deal with this issue with special sensitivity.

"Here I am primarily thinking about opening a center for youth over 27 years of age, because such an institution currently does not exist in Podgorica. There was an initiative that was sent to the Government of Montenegro a long time ago to determine the location for such a center, and we will repeat that initiative and contact the Government to consider the possibility of finding an adequate location. We are also ready to find a plot of land and provide funds from the level of the Capital City, in order to create suitable conditions for this youth, their parents and all employees to work and stay in the center," said Mujović.

The Capital City said that the Public Institution Day Care Center uses a facility that was not purpose-built for the purpose of the services provided there, but rather a renovated and adapted two-story house that has much less space needed for users to stay and carry out daily activities.

"The director of the Day Care Center, Olga Rovčanin, thanked the city administration representatives for the visit, emphasizing that Mayor Mujović is the first mayor to visit the center, which speaks of the willingness to approach such an important issue seriously and responsibly," the Capital City said.
