Mandić: Public call for the selection of two SAMU members withdrawn

Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandić withdrew the Public Invitation for the appointment of two members of the Council of the Agency for Audiovisual Media Services (SAMU), due to, as he announced, a technical error in the invitation.

Mandić stated on the social network Iks that the Public Call to non-governmental organizations in the field of media for the appointment of one member of SAMU, as well as to the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Montenegrin PEN Center, also for the appointment of one member, is being withdrawn.

He said he did this after the Administrative Committee of the Assembly informed him that the Public Invitation contained a technical error, which was pointed out to the Committee by the non-governmental sector.

"The aforementioned deficiency, as the Administrative Board informed me in a letter, may affect the legality of the procedure, which I would not want," said Mandić.

As Televizija Vijesti has learned, the director of the LGBT Forum Progres, Bojana Jokić, in a letter to the Administrative Board requested that the invitation clearly state that only non-governmental organizations in the field of media have the right to propose, and not those dealing with the protection of human rights and freedoms, because the mandate of that member of the Agency Council expires only in June of next year, while the one from the field of media has already expired.

Jokić believes that otherwise there would be disputes between non-governmental organizations and the decision to elect this member could be challenged in court.
