The municipal police of the Municipality of Bar, in cooperation with the Protection Service of the Skadar Lake National Park, has begun removing illegal structures in that protected area.
The National Parks of Montenegro (NPCG) announced that, "in accordance with regulations and efforts to preserve natural and cultural heritage," the facility in the town of Seoce was removed on January 22nd.
"These activities are part of continuous efforts to protect the national park as an important natural treasure of Montenegro, prevent the devastation of the area, preserve biodiversity, but also the rich cultural and historical heritage," the statement reads.
The Skadar Lake National Park announces that, in cooperation with the competent authorities, they will "continue the fight against illegal construction", which is "recognized as one of the key problems in protected areas".
NPCG reminds that in the past month, the Protection Service has submitted nine applications for changes in space to the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property, the Communal Inspection and the Port Authority.
"Also, at the end of last year, in cooperation with the Cetinje Communal Inspection, more than 25 illegal temporary structures were listed, after which warnings were issued to the owners and a deadline by which they are obliged to remove the illegally constructed structures, after which the procedure for their removal will be initiated."
They said that the Skadar Lake NP Protection Service "continually carries out activities" aimed at preventing all illegal activities in the park area.
"Thus, on January 26, 2025, four people were caught illegally fishing in the Zbelje region, from whom their vessel, outboard motor, spears and other means used for illegal fishing were temporarily seized. The persons were processed for further action by the Freshwater Fisheries Inspector," the statement reads.
