The University of Montenegro (UCG) and the University of Havana have signed a cooperation agreement.
The document was signed by the rectors of the two universities, Vladimir Božović and Mirijam Nikado García, as part of Božović's visit to Cuba on the occasion of participating in the International Conference "For World Balance".
The University of Montenegro announced that the agreement lays the foundation for long-term cooperation in the fields of education, research and cultural exchange. It envisages the exchange of professors, researchers and students, joint scientific projects, the organization of seminars and workshops, and the publication of research results.
"We are pleased to begin cooperation with an institution with a rich tradition and international reputation, such as the University of Havana. This agreement confirms our commitment to connecting with the world and opens up new opportunities for the academic communities of both universities," said Božović.

The University of Havana, founded in 1728, is the oldest higher education institution in Cuba and one of the leading universities in Latin America, recognized for its contribution to the natural and social sciences and a wide range of innovative research, UCG points out.
The signing of the agreement took place during the conference "For the Balance of the World", which is being held from January 28 to 31 at the Palacio de Convenciones convention center in Havana.
The UCG states that this significant international event, supported by UNESCO and other prominent organizations, brought together more than 1.100 delegates from 89 countries. The conference is dedicated to discussing global challenges, dialogue between civilizations, and promoting a culture of peace.
"During the conference, Rector Božović presented the University of Montenegro as the oldest higher education institution, which is, among other things, a member of the European University Ulysseus. He emphasized its unique position as an equal partner among prestigious European universities, even though it comes from a country that is not a member of the European Union. He also exchanged ideas with participants about the role of universities in facing global challenges and contributing to opening up space for dialogue, education and the promotion of culture," the statement reads.
They said that the "For World Balance" conference, since its founding in 2003, has been a space for leaders from politics, academia, and civil society to gather to exchange ideas and initiatives aimed at creating a more sustainable and just world.
Božović's participation in the conference followed previous talks with Lejde E. Rodríguez Hernández, the Ambassador of Cuba to Montenegro, who, during his visit to the University of Montenegro, initiated the possibility of cooperation with higher education institutions in Cuba.
