The draft amendments to the Decision on One-Time Benefits in the Municipality of Kolašin are under public debate, and a significant increase in benefits for newborn children is proposed.
Thus, according to the draft, the allowance for the first-born child should in the future be 500 euros, for the second-born 600, and for the third-born child in a family 700 euros. For the fourth child, parents would receive 800 euros, and for the fifth and each subsequent child 900 euros. As proposed, the allowance for twins would be 1.000 euros, and for triplets twice as much.
"According to the data we have, the Municipality of Kolašin is recording a negative natural increase, a decrease in the number of children enrolled in preschool and school institutions, and there is a constant increase in the emigration of the population, which was confirmed in the last census. For these reasons, one of the forms of assistance for families who remain to live in Kolašin is the proposed amendment to the Decision on One-Time Social Benefits, which provides for a significantly increased amount of equipment allowance for each newborn child," the local administration explains.
Until now, the benefit for the first-born child was 150 euros, for the second 200, and for the third 250 euros. Parents with three children received 300 euros for a newborn child. The benefit for twins was 500, and for triplets 1.000 euros.
According to the results of the last census, only 6.692 inhabitants live in the territory of that municipality, and in the period from 2011 to 2023, a decrease in the number of inhabitants was recorded by 670, and the number of primary school students in city and several rural schools decreased by 226.
