The recruitment of new police officers, through the ongoing public call, will significantly contribute to relieving the burden on the active staff and improving the operational capabilities of the Police Directorate, as assessed at meetings between Acting Police Director Lazar Šćepanović and union representatives.
Šćepanović spoke with the president of the Police Union, Mladen Šuškavčević, as well as with the president and vice president of the Independent Police Union, Igor Rmandić and Đorđi Vukićević.
The Police Directorate stated that Šćepanović informed the union representatives about the key directions of the Police Directorate's work.
He emphasized that the priorities will be the fight against crime and corruption, strengthening professionalism and internal stability in order to build a modern and efficient police force that will guarantee the safety of citizens, as well as strengthening human resources and filling the shortage of personnel.

Šćepanović said that the priority will also be to resolve the inherited problem of purchasing police uniforms and equipment, and to introduce stationary radars.
"As a long-term goal, a proposal was put forward to continue the project of covering public areas with video surveillance cameras in other cities besides Podgorica, Budva and Bar, with a primary emphasis on Cetinje," the statement said.
It is reported that representatives of both unions supported these goals, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the reputation of the police service and improving working conditions for all employees.
The police said that special attention was paid at the meetings to resolving the housing issue of police officers in several cities, issues of legal protection of police officers, improving working conditions, as well as reducing the volume of work that exceeds the legal framework, caused by a lack of personnel.
"In this regard, they agree that the Public Call for the Employment of New Police Officers, which is ongoing, will significantly contribute to relieving the burden on the active staff and improving the operational capabilities of the Police Directorate," the statement said.
It is added that the meetings also discussed social policy issues, including the allocation of funds for credit support to employees, as well as the issue of construction and resolving housing issues for police officers in several cities.
As stated, the unions presented plans and initiatives that, with the support of the Police Directorate, will be intensified in the coming period, in order to provide better housing conditions for police officers.
It was emphasized at the meetings that regular and periodic meetings between the Police Directorate and the trade union are needed, in order to continuously work on resolving all issues of importance to police officers and improving their position.
"Union representatives expressed full support for Šćepanović in his further activities and expressed their belief that further cooperation will be successful," the statement said.
It is concluded that the Police Directorate will continue active cooperation with trade unions, providing support to all initiatives aimed at improving the professional and social status of employees, while strengthening the operational capabilities and efficiency of the police.
