Minister of Transport Maja Vukićević will submit an initiative to the Parliament of Montenegro to form an inquiry committee to deal with the accident on Bioča, the relevant Ministry announced.
Vukićević met today with representatives of the non-governmental organization "Train of Unhappiness - Bioče 2006", who represent the families of those killed and injured in the 2006 train accident on Bioče.
The Ministry of Transport said that family representatives expressed dissatisfaction with the state's attitude after the accident and pointed out that even after almost two decades, many of the circumstances that led to the tragedy have not been clarified.
As stated in the statement, Vukićević, who also attended the commemoration on the anniversary of the accident, expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated her readiness, within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport, to contribute to clarifying all circumstances of the accident and determining responsibility.
"In accordance with previous agreements, the minister will send an initiative to the Parliament of Montenegro and parliamentary groups to form an inquiry committee to deal with the Bioča accident," the statement says.
Vukićević, it is added, will request that the competent institutions that were responsible for supporting the families of the victims and injured submit all data and documents they have.
"The interlocutors agreed that the passage of time should not be an excuse for years of silence and that additional efforts are necessary to achieve truth and justice," the Ministry announced.
