Secretary of the Secretariat for Financial Affairs and Budget Analysis Balša Spadijer expects the Capital City Assembly to adopt the budget as early as February.
According to him, the Secretariat has consulted with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Public Administration.
"... We expect that this most important document will be presented to the councilors during February, and will be finally considered at the first next session of the Capital City Assembly, which is also planned for February," Špadijer pointed out.
As he said, the Secretariat has been working intensively on defining all necessary procedures "so that the Decision on the Capital City Budget can be submitted to the Assembly for further consideration as soon as possible."
The capital city has switched to temporary financing, because the budget was not adopted within the legal deadline of December 31st last year. Although a decision was made on temporary financing for Podgorica, Špadijer claims that the capital "had no problems in its functioning."

He said that the Decision on Temporary Financing in the long term "certainly limits the space for more intensive work."
"... Considering that it relies on spending from the previous year, and that the budget for 2025 is planned for almost 20 million euros more. We will strive to provide the prerequisites for the adoption of the budget as soon as possible in order to smoothly implement development plans and programs and provide public services to citizens. In this way, we would ensure smooth financing of all planned activities and the implementation of strategic goals for the development of the city," said Špadijer.
This year's budget for Podgorica is expected to be 153 million euros.
He recalled that the timely adoption of the Decision on the Capital City Budget for the current year in the city parliament is essential for the stability and efficiency of the city administration.
"And that we expect the support of all the voters in the direction of home. This would ensure the smooth operation of the city administration and the improvement of the quality of life of the citizens of Podgorica, which this budget proposal undoubtedly provides," said Špadijer.
Last year, during the central public debate on the budget of the Capital City, he said that "some 140.000 euros" were planned for the Tourist Organization (TO) of Podgorica. He also said that livestock farming in the capital would be supported with 45.000, while 20.000 euros were allocated for fruit growing and poultry farming. The Capital City has provided 150.000 euros each for tenants, newborns and baby packages. Support for students in the form of scholarships will amount to 70.000 euros.
Špadijer said at the time that transfers to companies amounted to more than 19 million euros.
"We are aware of the fact that we have problems in the functioning of some companies. The largest increase, in the amount of one million euros, is intended for 'Putevi'. We increased the transfer to 'Čistoća' by 920.000 euros. We had to increase the allocation to the local public broadcaster Radio-Television Podgorica by 950.000 euros," Špadijer said earlier.
