Police officers from Nikšić, Pljevlja, Žabljak, Šavnik and Plužine held a working meeting with the management of educational institutions in their areas of responsibility, with the aim of further improving student safety and preventing juvenile delinquency, the Police Directorate announced.
During the meeting, the importance of continued cooperation between the police and educational institutions was emphasized in order to more effectively monitor situations that may endanger the safety of students, both in schools and in their surroundings. Special emphasis was placed on the problem of peer violence, vandalism and other forms of unacceptable behavior, and on the importance of preventive action to reduce these phenomena.
Police officers "emphasized the importance of the occasional presence" of police officers in schools, while fully respecting the autonomy of educational institutions. It was agreed to improve the exchange of information between schools and the police, as well as to organize educational programs for students, parents and teachers, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of violence prevention and recognizing potentially risky situations.
One of the key topics was internet safety, with a particular focus on the misuse of social media and the risks young people are exposed to. Police officers presented plans to organize training sessions on responsible internet use and recognizing different forms of digital violence.
"Also, the need to improve technical protection measures was emphasized, including the installation of video surveillance in school buildings, in order to further increase student safety and reduce the risk of incidents. Representatives of educational institutions expressed their willingness for further cooperation and implementation of the proposed measures, emphasizing the importance of joint action to protect students and ensure a safe school environment," the police said.
They say that, thanks to "the successful communication between the police and educational institutions to date," it has been agreed to continue regular information about all significant events through already established communication channels.
"The police will continue to be proactive and take increased activities to preserve the safety of the school community. Through the joint engagement of all relevant stakeholders, efforts will be made to ensure a safe and stable environment in which students can be educated and develop without obstacles and risks," the statement reads.
