Protest by a group of parents in Ulcinj: They demand safe playgrounds and sanctions for vandals

A parents' protest was held today at Pristan in Ulcinj due to the lack of children's playgrounds in the city.

Parents are demanding safe playgrounds and sanctions for vandals who demolished two existing ones near the Cultural Center and in the park on Mala Plaza.

They are upset because, as they say, due to the lack of safe playgrounds, they are forced to take their children from Podgorica and Bar to Shkodra and Tirana.

The protest was organized by an informal group of parents.

Vijesti previously reported that three new playgrounds for children should soon be built at Pristan in the park, near the Cultural Center and behind the Igman buildings, and they will be equipped with modern and high-quality furniture.

The Secretariat for Investments announced that the Municipality has already conducted a tender procedure and concluded a contract with the company "Kalcom" from Kraljevo, Serbia, for the installation of playground equipment at the Pristan playground. The value of the works is around ten thousand, and the Secretariat points out that the works should begin in the coming days.

Tender procedures have also been announced for the development of a children's playground at the Cultural Center and the micro-location behind the Igman buildings. The most favorable bidders, as the Secretariat says, have already been selected and contracts will be concluded with them as soon as the deadlines for complaints expire.

The value of the works on the development of the location behind the Igman buildings, within which a children's playground will be built, is around 100 thousand euros.

The work on the renovation of the children's playground at the Cultural Center, which will have a rubber surface, amounts to around 53 thousand euros including VAT.

The municipality renovated the playgrounds at Pristan and at the Cultural Center in late 2023, but they were targeted by vandals and completely demolished.
