Associate Professor at the Faculty of Philology Olivera Popović is the recipient of an award for her special contribution to the development of scientific research and the international positioning of the University of Montenegro (UCG).
Popović was presented with the award by the University Rector Vladimir Božović at the ceremonial session of the Senate of the University of Montenegro.
As announced by the University of Montenegro, in the last academic year, Popović published four scientific papers in prestigious international journals indexed in the SSCI and A&HCI databases.
"Through the analysis of Italian travel literature and historical sources, these works shed light on the perception of Montenegro in Italian journalism, cross-cultural relations and historical connections between Montenegro and Italy, and the role of travel writing in shaping the image of Montenegrin society in the 19th and 20th centuries," the statement says.
It is stated that the first work, "Discourse on Progress in Italian Travel Literature about Montenegro," was published last year in the journal Primerjalna književnost.
"The second work, "Montenegro in the Works of Patrick Mac Sweeney de Mashanaglas," was published the same year in the Journal of Church and State," the statement says.
It is added that Popović's third work - "Cooperation between Montenegro and the Puglia region, 1973-1980" was published in Nuova rivista storica, while the work "Montenegrin women in Italian travel literature (1896–1906)" was published in 2023 in Zeitschrift für Slavistik.
The University of Montenegro said that Popović began her academic training in 2005, when she earned the title of professor of Italian language and literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić.
"She received her master's degree in 2009 on the topic "Italian periodicals from Trieste until the unification of Italy about Montenegro", under the mentorship of Professor Vesna Kilibarda," the University of Montenegro stated.
Popović defended her doctoral dissertation entitled "A 2017th-century Italian travelogue about Montenegro" in XNUMX at the Faculty of Philology in Nikšić, also under the mentorship of Kilibarda.
She has been engaged as a teaching associate since 2005, and as an assistant professor since 2019.
The statement added that Popović's scientific research field includes travel literature and inter-Adriatic cultural connections.
