The largest afforestation campaign, "Boranka", which was implemented last year by the Scouts' Union of Montenegro (SICG) in cooperation with friends, will continue this year.
Last year, during this campaign, 30 thousand black pine seedlings were planted on Mount Vojnik, near Nikšić.
"This year, the campaign will include new locations, including Bar, Podgorica, as well as a continuation on Mount Vojnik near Nikšić, which will further contribute to the restoration of Montenegrin forests and environmental preservation," announced SICG, which agreed with representatives of the Forest Management and Hunting Areas Administration of Montenegro to continue cooperation within the framework of afforestation of burned areas in Montenegro and specified further activities as part of the "Boranka" campaign.
Miloš Rajković, director of the Forest and Hunting Management Administration, emphasized the importance of "Boranka" and, as stated in the press release, emphasized that the Administration will provide full support by providing the necessary seedlings and knowledge of engineers and professionals, "which will contribute to even greater efficiency of the action."
"He emphasized that such initiatives are always welcome and that the Administration always provides full support to volunteers and citizens in the field of protecting Montenegrin forests," the press release states.
According to the Secretary General of SICG, Borislav Jovović, the main coordinator of "Boranka", in cooperation with the Municipality of Bar and President Dušan Raičević, they plan to carry out planting actions at the locations of Volujica and Golo brdo near Sutomore, and they intend to have more than five of these actions and to implement them in cooperation with local scout units.
Peko Vukadinović, president of SICG, announced that the "Boranka" campaign this year will be the largest volunteer action in the country and that they expect a large response from citizens and scouts.
"A tour of the field, preparation of seedlings and cleaning of the locations are planned before the start of planting, which will be implemented at the end of the year, with an emphasis on educating children in primary and secondary schools about the importance of forests for the entire ecosystem. Thanks to the joint efforts of all partners and volunteers, 'Boranka' will once again be of enormous importance for the preservation and restoration of Montenegrin forests this year, and afforestation actions across the country will continue with great enthusiasm and dedication," Vukadinović emphasized.
"Boranka" is supported by many partners, including: the European Union in Montenegro, the European House, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, One Montenegro, the Army of Montenegro, the Municipality of Nikšić, Lovćen Insurance, NLB Bank, Podravka Group, INA Montenegro, Forthing, Aqua Bianca, MIMOND travel, Bred i Pita, while last year the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Montenegro provided logistical and organizational support.
