The Football Association of Montenegro (FSCG) reacted to Darko Vlahović's claims in the article "Special prosecutors control finances: Investigating the planned construction of the eastern stand of the City Stadium", published today on the Vijesti portal.
We transmit the response in full:
"Regarding the current and frequent media appearances of Darko Vlahović related to the construction of the eastern stand of the City Stadium in Podgorica, we would like to address the public and emphasize that the Football Association of Montenegro acts with the best intentions, in accordance with best practices and the goal of improving sports infrastructure in our country. The lack of one stand at our largest stadium, which is the home of the national team and a large number of European matches of our clubs, has been a major problem for almost two decades and we have finally, in cooperation with the Capital and the Government of Montenegro, started to eliminate it and create better conditions at the City Stadium in Podgorica.
The frequent speeches and media appearances of Darko Vlahović, who presents himself as the director of the CREAM Europe PPP alliance and the ambassador of the Swiss organization Impact Global Alliance in Montenegro, related to the construction of the eastern stand represent an attempt to personally promote or achieve goals known to him and to slow down or completely stop the implementation of this project. The Football Association has discussed and will discuss the issue of the eastern stand with the relevant partners participating in the implementation of the project - the Capital City and the Government of Montenegro - in an effort to complete it within the defined timeframe.
"We did not intend and do not intend to correspond with Mr. Vlahović through the media. However, we will file criminal charges against the person in question with the competent institutions as soon as possible for defamation against the President of the Football Association of Montenegro, Dejan Savićević, the Secretary General of the Football Association of Montenegro, Momir Đurđevac, the members of the Commission, and for damaging the corporate reputation of the Football Association of Montenegro, so we will conduct the conversation during the court proceedings," the response states.
