The President of the Democratic Councilors' Club in the Capital City Assembly, Mitar Paunović, said that the "Water Supply and Sewerage" company will "come back from the bottom" in which the previous government led by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) left it.
He also said that such people "will never be in power again."
"In recent days, the public scene has been flooded with statements by representatives of the former regime regarding the situation in the Podgorica company 'Vodovod i kanalizacija', which they began to think about after they went into opposition. This is the last company in Podgorica that should be mentioned by those who brought it to this position and left the new management to dig the situation out, not even from the grass, but from a deep well. Have colleagues forgotten that, from the lost elections in October to the handover of power in April, they employed as many as 51 people, or rather increased the number of employees by 10 percent, while the company was operating with a big deficit," Paunović asked. He added that he had used his right as a councilor to request from "Vodovod" what he called "the shameful preliminary contract signed between the former executive director of Vodovod and the then deputy director."
"On the basis of which this person purchased an apartment in Podgorica, measuring 54 m2, from the company Vodovod i kanalizacija, on favorable terms for an incredible 6.370 euros. This apartment would have cost every citizen of Podgorica 10 times more at the market price at that moment, or around 59.000 euros, while some officials could have gotten it for such a shameful figure, equal to the value of a housing container. And all this at a time when they are doing nothing about the methodology that drastically reduces the price of water and puts the company in the red, leaving the impression that they did everything to leave Podgorica in the worst possible condition after losing the elections at the state level."
Paunović also said that it is interesting that "unconstitutional decisions are being spoken about by those who once had doctorates in this field and, following a decision by the courts, unconstitutionally postponed the elections in Podgorica in 2022."
"And they illegally granted Ivan Vuković a new four-year term, which was confirmed by the Administrative Court, after which Ivan Vuković threatened the judges with filing criminal charges. Have they forgotten that their sectoral collective agreement, which they left behind when they left power, was declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court at the end of 2024, which led to a salary increase in Vodovod of as much as 25 percent and a cost to the company of as much as one million euros, at a time when the company is operating negatively due to their operations," said Paunović.
