The asphalt base in the village of Bušnje, Pljevlja, which Rudnik uglja recently leased from the bankrupt Vektra Jakić company, is scheduled to begin operations at the end of March.
The base was leased for a period of fourteen months with a monthly fee of 10,5 thousand euros.
Executive Director of the Coal Mine Nemanja Laković He said that the facility is currently being renovated and that it will be completed in a month, after which the conditions will be met for the asphalt base to begin operating.
"Among our employees, we have workers who have experience working on asphalt bases, so some of the employees will be from the Coal Mine, and some we will have to hire externally. These are real jobs where everyone will be able to earn their salary and generate income for the company," said Laković.
He also said that the Mine's long-term plans include purchasing an asphalt base when the conditions are right.
"The asphalt base is very important for the city. We hope that the opening of the asphalt base will improve business on all projects in Pljevlja," said the head of Rudnik.
The asphalt is planned to be sold to other customers as well as for work to be carried out by the Rudnika uglja construction group, given that the company plans to participate in all tenders in the region for the performance of construction works.
Laković expects the asphalt base to be ready by the beginning of the construction season, and the company has already prepared the purchase of the necessary raw materials.
"We expect a good profit rate in the asphalt base if we take into account the planned input quantities of asphalt in the next construction season. It is too early to come up with any exact data, but we certainly expect profitability in the first year," said the head of Rudnik.
The costs of repairing the asphalt base will amount to around 30.000 euros and will be deducted from the rent.
The asphalt base in the village of Bušnje was built in 1984 for the needs of the then municipal company and its production capacity was sufficient for the needs of the city.
It operated without major problems until 2009, when a general overhaul of the plant was carried out.
The Mine expects that the asphalt base will produce 30 to 35 tons of asphalt per hour, which, as they point out, is sufficient capacity for Pljevlja.
They also said that they will procure stone aggregate from a nearby quarry and that they are in contact with the concessionaire, as well as from the quarry whose concessionaire is the Coal Mine.
In the future, Rudnik plans to purchase paver and trucks so that they can also perform asphalt installation work.
