The citizens of Kolašin have been very unpleasantly surprised by the high water bill these days. Namely, after the New Year, in accordance with the decision of the Municipal Assembly and at the proposal of the Board of Directors of DOO 'Water Supply and Sewerage', the price of water has been unjustifiably significantly increased. It is unacceptable that the price of water has been drastically increased, almost 100 percent, announced the Municipal Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Kolašin.
They add that it is absurd that the citizens of Kolašin will pay more for water than for electricity.
"And let's not forget that our municipality is extremely hydrologically rich and that there are several water factories in it. Unfortunately, the local government does not have the ability to provide regular water supply throughout the year (especially in the summer months). This decision has particularly affected citizens belonging to vulnerable categories of the population. In this regard, our Councilors' Club proposed that the Decision on Subsidies for Utility Services be urgently adopted, in order to help our socially vulnerable fellow citizens as much as possible," it was announced.
They reminded that EPCG and most municipalities in Montenegro have made a similar decision.
"We also note that Prime Minister Milojko Spajić publicly promised that water prices would not increase in municipalities where PES is a constituent of the government, so we cannot but wonder whether the Prime Minister's word carries weight and how much it is respected in the local Kolašin government. Finally, we will take into account that water prices have not been increased before and in that sense we are not opposed to the increase of this service, but rather support it, but we cannot accept that the increase will be 100 percent. We appeal to the local government to hear the voice of citizens and to urgently take measures to reduce the consequences of this decision," the Kolašin DPS announced.
