A total of ten new rescuers were trained to work on organized ski resorts during the training organized in Kolašin from February 13 to the present, the Montenegrin Red Cross announced today.
"The Red Cross of Montenegro and the Red Cross of Kolašin organized training for rescuers at organized ski resorts from February 13 to 16, with the support of instructors from the Bulgarian Red Cross - Mountain Rescue Service, a member of the International Alpine Rescue Organization ICAR. In accordance with legal authorizations, the Red Cross of Montenegro has previously actively worked on strengthening the capacity to perform rescue activities at organized ski resorts, so this is the fourth training for rescuers at organized ski resorts, organized with the support of instructors from Bulgaria, and within which ten new rescuers were trained," the statement states.
The Red Cross added that the training included theoretical and practical parts: skiing techniques, first aid with an emphasis on limb injuries, polytrauma, hypothermia, etc., evacuation and transport of the injured, and the danger of avalanches.
"During this period, recertification was also carried out for 13 rescuers who completed the training in the previous period. The participants in the rescuer training were volunteers from the Red Cross Kolašin. Considering the expansion of the capacities of ski centers in Montenegro, the Red Cross of Montenegro wants to strengthen its own capacities in this way and contribute to the safety of all visitors to organized ski resorts in Montenegro. We also take this opportunity to express our great gratitude to the Kolašin 1450 ski center, which contributed to organizing the training by making the ski center's resources available," the Red Cross statement reads.
