Pensioners from Bijelo Polje will not allow water prices to increase and will not give up on their demand to return the increased prices to their previous level, said the Pensioners' Movement during a protest in front of the Bijelo Polje Waterworks "Bistrica", which was held today.

The president of the Bijlo Polje Pensioners' Movement, Ivan Žunić, said that equalizing prices for individuals and legal entities is unfair.

"Looking at prices in Montenegro, it is impossible for Budva to have lower water prices than Bijelo Polje. There is an achieved and actual price of water, the difference is what the Municipality subsidizes in order to achieve a more favorable price," he said.

After the protest, pensioner representatives met with the director of the "Bistrica" Waterworks, Esad Mahmutović, at his invitation.

The meeting lasted two hours but no agreement was reached, except for the announcement of a meeting with the mayor of Bijelo Polje.

Mahmutović emphasized that he would seek to move towards amendments to the law on utility services, in order to differentiate prices for consumers, both natural and legal entities, which would greatly contribute to price correction, which was one of the pensioners' demands.
